Selection of German luxury hotels honours chef trainees

Lindis Brodhag was the proud winner of this year's ninth chef trainee contest organised by the Selection of German Luxury Hotels at yesterday's award ceremony, taking first place with her impressive performance at the Excelsior Hotel Ernst in Cologne. Second place went to Lukas Kurbin from the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm, closely followed by Frederike Fiedler from the Brenners Parkhotel in Baden-Baden.

Outstanding young talent in the Selection of German Luxury Hotels: the award winners in 2023

The year is drawing to a close and the Selection of German Luxury Hotels can once again look back on numerous awards for its young employees. However, it is not only the hotels themselves that have reason to celebrate, but also the young award winners who were in the spotlight this year. With their outstanding achievements, their personality, their professionalism and, above all, their passion, they were able to convince the respective jurors. They carry the association's motto "Excellence with passion" out into the world with pride and dedication and it is their commitment that will ensure that the guests of the selection houses will continue to be welcomed by hosts with the utmost passion and excellence in the future.

SELEKTION DEUTSCHER LUXUSHOTELS - outstanding ranking in the 101 Best Hotels in Germany

At the award ceremony for the 101 Best Hotels in Germany in Wildbad Kreuth, the Selection of German Luxury Hotels was very pleased. With the exception of Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, which is currently closed due to extensive renovations, all of the association's member hotels were honoured.

Ellen Dürkop from Severin*s Resort & Spa wins the 22nd trainee contest organised by the Selection of German Luxury Hotels

At this year's trainee contest organised by the association, the ladies were particularly impressive: After winner Ellen Dürkop, Berit Weiler from the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa came second, with Veronika Klaric from the Mandarin Oriental Munich in third place. This year's scholarship from the association was awarded to Timon Fischer von Weikersthal - also from the Severin*s Resort & Spa.

Chef Apprentice Contest of the Selection of German Luxury Hotels on MS Europa

Leander Werchan from the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg is the proud winner of the eighth competition for young chefs organised by the Selection of German Luxury Hotels, which took place on the MS Europa for the first time. Second place went to Ben Fahrig from the Excelsior Hotel Ernst. Natalya Vigulyarnaya from the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm and Pascal Kinninger from the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa scored the same number of points and therefore shared third place.

Selection of German luxury hotels Attractive employer branding for committed employees

The "war for talent" does not stop at the hotel industry. The shortage of skilled labour is particularly noticeable in an industry where individual personality counts, and this also applies to young talent. While above-average pay is now standard, hotels with skilful employer branding rely on unusual ideas that are all the more effective the more they are geared towards the needs of potential and current employees.

A promising alliance: The Selection of German Luxury Hotels in co-operation with GlobeAir

The Selection of German Luxury Hotels is pleased to welcome GlobeAir, the Austria-based, market-leading provider of private jet charter flights, as the association's new co-operation partner. Through the collaboration with GlobeAir, the association of seven German and one Austrian luxury hotels has achieved its goal of being able to offer its guests first-class service “on land, at sea and in the air”.

We take partnership seriously: The Selection of German Luxury Hotels and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises join forces

In their first joint press conference at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg, Ingo C. Peters, spokesman for the Selection of German Luxury Hotels, and Julian Pfitzner, CEO Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, presented the new partnership between the association of seven German and one Austrian luxury hotels and the renowned provider of luxury and expedition cruises.

The Selection of German Luxury Hotels: Appreciation as a basis for employer branding

A lack of employees and, above all, a lack of young talent is putting the hotel industry under increasing pressure. Hotels have to become ever more creative if they are to win the war for talent. While above-average pay has now become almost the norm, hotels sometimes come up with unusual ideas around “benefits in kind”, which work all the better the more they respond to the needs of (potential) employees.
